Is digital art still Art?
Among the people visiting the exhibition today there's been a person who, without even looking at the fractals, declared: "Since you made them pushing a button on the computer this is not art. So, I don't like them. Only traditional painting will last forever this is just a temporary fashion".
I don't mind if there are people who don't like my fractals but I don't accept the equation "computer = crap".
So, I put a smile on my face and, instead of kicking him out of the room, I tried to explain to this man that the computer is just a tool and there is still a person - with ideas, creativity and passion - to create art.
This is not the first
It's official!
The details of the exhibition of my fractals and my dad's paintings have been published today on the official program of the town festival. Actually I'm taking advantage of my dad's name, who's quite known here in town and around too, to present my "creatures".
I hope that my fellow citizens will appreciate this combination of traditional and digital art.
I'm happy and scared too. I'll have to be friendly and extroverted with people I barely know, or who are totally unknown to me, during the three days of the festival.
I'm not a social person, I hope to survive. It will be an experience anyway.
Here the poster. This isn't just an exhibit
I have a signature...
...it's taken from the introduction of Fragile Things, a collection of novels written by one of my favourite contemporary writer, Mr. Neil Gaiman. Due to the character count limitations, I've used all of them, I could not include the last part of the sentence which ends as follow:
"But all, all are fragile things made up using just 26 letters arranged and rearranged again and again to form tales and imaginings which, if you let them, will dazzle your senses, haunt your imagination and move you to the very depths of your soul."
It's so true.
Some years ago I asked him why he never explained the references - to literature, music, mythology a
Small satisfactions for a newly fractalist
Today I've discovered two nice things entering in DeviantArt
1) #XtremeFractals (https://www.deviantart.com/xtremefractals) has included my very first MD3D fractal
"The landing of the alien toys spaceships"
- among other awesome pieces of fractal art - into a mini-feature journal http://fav.me/d52wrga .
The purpose is to highlight the "1 to 6 Contest" for Mandelbubl 3D only http://xtremefractals.deviantart.com/gallery/37479820 to which I contributed with these two fractals
2) My entry
"Council in the Green Marble Hall"
has been shortlisted for the PolyFold-sym contest http://dark-beam.deviantart.com/journal/MB3D-contest-POLYFOLD-SYM-galore-303679587 organized by :icon
